John Elston Higbee, 84, of 711 E. Market St., died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in Culver Hospital. He had been seriously ill three weeks. Mr. Higbee was a retired realtor, having moved to Crawfordsville in 1927. Prior to that he resided at Waynetown and was employed as a stock buyer and assessor. Born Aug. 4, 1881, at Waynetown, he was a son of Charles A. and Joanna Phillips Higbee. He was married July 10, 1905, at Waynetown, to Eva Bell Hendricks. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Clem of Crawfordsville; a brother, Clifford Higbee of Waynetown; a sister, Mrs. Eva Humphreys of Waynetown, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and a brother who died in 1959. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. - jlr
